ANSYS announced that its ANSYS RedHawk and ANSYSR Totem have been certified by UMC's advanced 14nm FinFET process technology. ANSYS and UMC support a growing range of requirements for next-generation mobile and high-performance computing (HPC) applications through certified and complete packaged semiconductor design solutions.
The ANSYS certification for UMC includes extraction, power integrity and reliability, signal EM and self-heat analysis. UMC's 14nm FinFET technology is 55% faster than 28nm technology and consumes 50% less power, making it suitable for applications that require more features, ultra-high performance and ultra-low power consumption.
TH Lin, Director of UMC's Intellectual Property Development and Design Support Department, said: "UMC continues to improve its design to support its products, helping customers shorten design time and speed time-to-market. We are working with ANSYS and our mutual customers can use ANSYS' multiphysics. Simulation, optimizing design, improving performance and reducing overdesign."
John Lee, General Manager of ANSYS, said: "The interdependence of multi-level physical effects below 16 nanometers continues to increase, such as power, reliability and heat issues, posing significant challenges to design convergence. ANSYS' semiconductor solution architecture targets Multi-level entity optimization design, and the UNSYS-certified ANSYS solution has been rigorously tested and accurately verified to help both customers accelerate design convergence."
